Bengaluru received rain on Thursday morning as IMD and KSNDMC forecast rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across Karnataka


Bengaluru: The capital received rainfall from Thursday morning, with showers reported across several parts of the city. Areas including K.R. Market, Town Hall, K.R. Circle, Seshadripuram, Vidhana Soudha and Shanthinagar witnessed rain as weather conditions remained cool and breezy.


The rainfall has affected movement across the city, with commuters travelling to offices, schools and colleges using umbrellas and raincoats. Vehicles continued to move across Bengaluru, although traffic was moving at a slower pace in areas receiving rain.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) have issued a Karnataka weather forecast for the coming seven days, with rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected across several parts of the state.


Bengaluru Rain Today Brings Showers Across City

Rainfall was reported in several central Bengaluru areas on Thursday morning. K.R. Market, Town Hall, K.R. Circle, Seshadripuram, Vidhana Soudha and Shanthinagar were among the areas mentioned in connection with the showers.

The rain has brought cooler weather conditions to the city. The morning remained cool and breezy as intermittent showers continued in different parts of Bengaluru.

People travelling for work and education were seen carrying umbrellas and raincoats. Despite the rainfall, traffic continued across the city, with vehicles moving at a slower pace in rain-affected stretches.


Karnataka Rainfall Records Show Deficit

The state rainfall figures indicate a deficit in Karnataka. Against a normal rainfall figure of 158 mm, the state has received 127 mm, leaving a deficit of 19 per cent and placing the rainfall level in the normal category according to the figures provided.

The figures also state that against normal rainfall of 629 mm, Karnataka has received 435 mm, resulting in a rainfall deficit of 31 per cent.

Of Karnataka's 31 districts, no district has recorded heavy rainfall. Only two districts have received normal rainfall, while 29 districts are facing a heavy rainfall deficit.


Karnataka Weather Forecast for Next Seven Days

The IMD and KSNDMC have issued a fresh weather forecast covering the next seven days. The forecast includes widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several districts of Karnataka.


According to the latest Karnataka weather update, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong surface winds is expected in many parts of the state today and tomorrow.


The forecast indicates that weather activity will continue across several parts of Karnataka during the coming days, with rainfall and thunderstorms among the conditions expected.


IMD Rain Warning for Karnataka

The IMD has also issued a warning regarding possible hailstorm activity in isolated interior districts of Karnataka on May 25.


The weather forecast includes thunderstorms, lightning, strong surface winds and rainfall in several parts of the state. Isolated heavy rain is also expected in some areas during the forecast period.


The latest warning covers multiple weather conditions, including rainfall and thunderstorm activity, while the KSNDMC has also issued its Karnataka weather update for the coming seven days.
