Father and daughter die on the spot after a speeding lorry crashes into a tractor near Nidagundi; two others sustain minor injuries
A father and daughter were killed after a speeding lorry allegedly rammed into a tractor from behind near Nidagundi in Karnataka's Vijayapura district. The victims were travelling with labourers heading to Mandya for sugarcane harvesting when the accident occurred. Police have launched an investigation.
Vijayapura: A father and daughter were killed in a road accident after a speeding lorry allegedly rammed into a tractor from behind near Nidagundi in Karnataka's Vijayapura district on Tuesday. Two other occupants of the tractor sustained minor injuries in the collision.
The accident occurred near the Muddebihal Cross on the national highway under the jurisdiction of the Nidagundi Police Station.
Speeding Lorry Crashes Into Tractor from Behind in Vijayapura
According to preliminary information, a group of labourers was travelling in the tractor from Indi to Mandya for sugarcane harvesting work.
Police said the tractor driver reportedly slowed down after approaching a speed breaker on the highway. At that moment, a lorry travelling behind allegedly failed to slow down and crashed into the rear of the tractor with considerable force.
The impact of the collision proved fatal for two occupants of the tractor.

Father and Daughter Die at the Scene in Vijayapura
The collision resulted in the death of a father and his daughter, who were travelling in the tractor. Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.
Two other occupants sustained minor injuries and were shifted for medical treatment.
Police have not yet officially released the identities of the deceased.
Police Launch Investigation in Vijayapura
Police personnel reached the accident spot soon after receiving information and conducted a preliminary inspection.
The injured were shifted to Nidagundi Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were also transported to the hospital for further legal formalities.
A case has been registered at the Nidagundi Police Station, and investigators are examining the exact cause of the accident.

Road Safety Concerns Highlighted Again
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of rear-end collisions on highways, particularly near speed breakers and construction zones where vehicles are required to reduce speed.
Authorities are expected to investigate whether overspeeding, driver negligence, or any other contributing factors played a role in the accident before taking further legal action.
