High Court Administrative Judge S. Vishwajit Shetty reviewed the proposed site for a modern district court complex and discussed infrastructure needs with members of the Bar Association

The proposed district court complex in Ramanagara has moved a step closer to execution after High Court Administrative Judge S. Vishwajit Shetty inspected the project site. The new judicial complex, announced in the Karnataka Budget 2026-27, aims to strengthen judicial infrastructure and improve public access to justice.

Ramanagara: The construction of a modern and fully equipped district court complex in Ramanagara has gained momentum after High Court Administrative Judge S. Vishwajit Shetty inspected the proposed project site and reviewed plans for the upcoming judicial infrastructure.

The visit marks a significant step in the implementation of the Karnataka government's proposal to establish a larger court complex aimed at addressing infrastructure constraints and improving the delivery of judicial services in the district.

High Court Judge Reviews Proposed Ramanagara Court Complex

During his visit to the Ramanagara court premises, Justice S. Vishwajit Shetty assessed the existing court infrastructure and inspected the land identified for the construction of the new court complex.

The current court building has long been considered inadequate due to space constraints, creating operational challenges for judicial proceedings and public services. Recognising the need for improved infrastructure, proposals had earlier been submitted to the state government seeking a modern court complex.

Officials briefed the Administrative Judge on the approved project plans and the proposed layout prepared by the Public Works Department (PWD).

"The proposed court complex is expected to significantly improve judicial infrastructure and provide better facilities for litigants, lawyers and court staff."

Government Allocates Funds for New District Court Complex

To facilitate the project, 1 acre and 15 guntas of land adjacent to the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway, previously under the control of the Taluk Panchayat, was transferred to the judiciary.

The Karnataka government subsequently announced the construction of a well-equipped district court complex in the 2026-27 State Budget and allocated funds for the project.

Officials stated that the blueprint prepared by the Public Works Department has already received approval from the High Court. A formal proposal will now be submitted to the government before the tender process begins.

Construction work is expected to commence by the end of the year after completion of the necessary administrative procedures.

Justice Shetty Expresses Confidence in Early Completion

After reviewing the proposed site, Justice Vishwajit Shetty observed that the location adjacent to the highway is suitable for the construction of the new judicial complex.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed expeditiously, enabling the public to benefit from improved judicial infrastructure and enhanced court facilities.

The inspection also included a review of the shortcomings in the existing court building and discussions on the design of the proposed complex.

Bar Association Seeks Larger Space in New Court Building

Following the site inspection, Justice Shetty met members of the Ramanagara Bar Association and discussed the proposed court infrastructure.

Bar Association President K. Kempaiah welcomed the government's decision to construct a new court complex and requested adequate space for advocates within the new premises.

He pointed out that the Bar Association currently functions from space provided in the District Legal Services Authority building, which is insufficient to meet the growing requirements of the legal fraternity.

According to Kempaiah, more than 700 advocates visit the Ramanagara court complex every day, and the number is expected to exceed 1,000 in the future.

"The new court complex should include sufficient space for the Bar Association to effectively serve the growing legal community," K. Kempaiah urged.

Tree Plantation Conducted at Nyaya Van

Later, Justice S. Vishwajit Shetty participated in a tree plantation programme at Nyaya Van located in the Sri Ramadevara Betta Vulture Wildlife Sanctuary at Basanapura in Ramanagara district.

The initiative forms part of efforts to promote environmental conservation alongside judicial outreach programmes.

Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority M.H. Annayyanavar, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Savita P.R., Range Forest Officer Mohammed Mansur, Forest Department official Sushma, officials of the Legal Services Authority and Forest Department personnel were present.
