Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar directs officials to complete the Special Intensive Revision within the Election Commission's timeline with full transparency
Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bengaluru North and directed officials to complete the exercise within the Election Commission's prescribed timeline. He instructed authorities to ensure transparency, protect genuine voters from exclusion, strengthen coordination with political parties, and expedite door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers.
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V. Anbukumar on Sunday directed election officials to complete the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls within the timeline prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) while ensuring complete transparency throughout the process.
The directions were issued during a review meeting held for the Bengaluru North jurisdiction at the Conference Hall of the Commissioner’s Office, Bengaluru North City Corporation. The meeting was attended by Additional District Election Officer and Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar along with senior election officials.
Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls Reviewed
During the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer reviewed the constituency-wise progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and discussed measures required to complete the exercise within the schedule fixed by the Election Commission.
He stated that progress at every polling station across all Assembly constituencies would be closely monitored and instructed officials to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the public during the revision process.
"No genuine voter should be left out of the electoral roll. The Special Intensive Revision must be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining complete transparency," the Chief Electoral Officer directed.
Political Parties to Receive Daily Electoral Roll Updates
The CEO instructed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to share the constituency-wise details of the identified ASDDO list with representatives of recognised political parties daily.
He further directed officials to examine objections and suggestions submitted by political party representatives and take appropriate action in accordance with the Election Commission's rules.
Officials were also instructed to hold constituency-wise meetings with representatives of recognised political parties to facilitate coordination during the revision process.
BLOs Directed to Complete Door-to-Door Verification
The Chief Electoral Officer directed officials to ensure that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carry out door-to-door verification efficiently and meet the targets fixed under the Special Intensive Revision programme.
He also instructed that all applications received during the revision exercise should be processed and disposed of within the prescribed timeframe.
Officials Asked to Follow Election Commission Guidelines
Concluding the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer instructed all officers to strictly adhere to the Election Commission of India's guidelines to ensure the smooth, transparent and effective implementation of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The meeting was attended by Joint Chief Electoral Officer Yogeshwar, Additional Commissioner (Revenue In-charge) and Joint Commissioner Pallavi, Joint Commissioner Mohammed Naeem Momin, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and other concerned officials.
