According to Kuwait's military, Iranian missile and drone attacks have targeted the country repeatedly in recent days. Officials said key infrastructure, including power facilities and desalination plants, has been among the reported targets.
Iran Launches Fresh Drone Attacks on US Bases in Kuwait
Iran's army announced that it carried out a new wave of drone strikes against US military installations in Kuwait early Sunday as part of the 17th phase of Operation Saegheh.
According to an official military statement, the operation targeted an ammunition depot at Camp Al-Adairi and personnel and equipment facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base. Iranian authorities said the latest strikes followed attacks on US military positions in Kuwait that began early Saturday.
Iran's military said the latest operation targeted US military infrastructure in Kuwait under the ongoing Operation Saegheh campaign.
Iran Links Strait of Hormuz Security to US Military Presence
An Iranian lawmaker said any future closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be the result of instability created by the United States in the Persian Gulf.
Mohseni-Sani, a member of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated that US military bases across Gulf countries had shifted from providing regional security to becoming platforms for military intervention.
"The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is the result of insecurity created by the US," Mohseni-Sani said.
The remarks come as concerns grow over the security of one of the world's busiest oil shipping routes amid escalating regional conflict.
Iran Says Low-Cost Drones Are Challenging US Defence Systems
Another Iranian parliament member, Amir Hayat-Moghadam, said domestically produced low-cost drones have significantly changed modern battlefield dynamics by creating operational challenges for expensive US defence systems.
Hayat-Moghadam, who serves on the praesidium of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, claimed that recent military developments demonstrate the effectiveness of Iranian drones against advanced defence technology.
He further stated that using multi-million-dollar interception systems against low-cost drones creates a strategic and financial challenge for opposing forces.
US Expands Military Strikes on Iranian Targets
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that US forces conducted another round of military strikes on Iranian targets during the eighth consecutive night of operations on July 18.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes began at 11:30 p.m. ET under the direction of the US President and targeted coastal surveillance facilities, air defence systems, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.
The operation also struck positions belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which the US said were responsible for attacks on American service members in Jordan on July 17.
US Central Command added that more than 50,000 US military personnel remain deployed across the Middle East and are maintaining a high level of operational readiness amid the evolving security situation.
CENTCOM said US forces remain fully prepared while continuing military operations across the region.
The exchange of attacks between Iran and the United States, along with military activity involving Kuwait, marks another phase in the rapidly evolving security situation in the Gulf, with regional stability and critical infrastructure remaining under close watch.
