Who Was Chandra Shekhar Azad?
Chandra Shekhar Azad was born as Chandra Shekhar Tiwari on July 23, 1906, in Bhabra village of present-day Alirajpur district, Madhya Pradesh.
He earned the name "Azad" at the age of 15 after being arrested during Mahatma Gandhi's Non-Cooperation Movement. When questioned by a British magistrate, he identified himself as "Azad" (Free), his father's name as "Swatantrata" (Independence) and his residence as "Jail."
Azad later became one of the leading revolutionaries of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) and worked alongside Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Ram Prasad Bismil and several other freedom fighters.

How Chandra Shekhar Azad Died?
On February 27, 1931, British police surrounded Azad at Alfred Park in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) after receiving information about his location.
Refusing to surrender, he engaged in a gunfight with the police while ensuring that his fellow revolutionary escaped safely.
After exhausting nearly all his ammunition and sustaining injuries, Azad used his final bullet on himself, fulfilling his pledge that he would never be captured alive by the British.
The park where the encounter took place has since been renamed Chandra Shekhar Azad Park in his honour.
