Bidar: The tragic incident in Bidar has drawn widespread attention after a local family lost two young daughters and another remains critically ill following a suspected food-related illness after eating mangoes.
Six members of a family from Shembelli village in Aurad taluk fell seriously ill on June 7 after consuming mangoes. The victims, including five girls and their mother, Indumati, suffered severe vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms shortly after the consumption. All of them were initially treated locally before being shifted to Hyderabad for advanced medical care.

Despite treatment, the situation worsened. On June 8, two sisters, Bhavani (17) and Sandhyarani (14), succumbed to the illness. Another sister, Vijayashree, continues to remain in critical condition at a hospital in Hyderabad, while the mother and other affected family members are under observation.
A case has already been registered at Narayanguda police station in Hyderabad as authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the sudden illness following mango consumption.
The mango consumption tragedy in the Bidar family raises concern
The sudden deterioration of health after eating mangoes has sparked serious questions among local health officials. While initial reports suggest possible food contamination or poisoning, the exact medical cause is still under investigation. The incident has left the entire Shembelli village in shock and mourning.
“The family is in extreme distress, and immediate support is essential for their survival and rehabilitation,” local sources stated.
MLA intervention in Bidar after the mango consumption tragedy
Aurad constituency MLA Prabhu Chauhan visited Shembelli village personally to meet the grieving family. He consoled the relatives and assured them of full government and personal support during this crisis.
The MLA’s intervention has become a major humanitarian highlight in the ongoing Bidar tragedy case, bringing administrative attention to the struggling family.
“I will take full responsibility for the education of the surviving daughters and ensure their marriage and future needs are taken care of. A new house will also be constructed for the family,” MLA Prabhu Chauhan said.
MLA adopts three daughters and announces full support
In a major announcement, MLA Prabhu Chauhan declared that he would adopt the three surviving daughters of the affected family. His commitment includes full financial support for education, long-term care, and marriage arrangements in the future.
The MLA also assured that a fully furnished house will be constructed for the family within this year, as part of immediate rehabilitation efforts for the tragedy-hit household.
“Education, shelter, and dignity for these children will be my personal responsibility,” the MLA added during his visit.
Background of the Bidar mango tragedy and hospital treatment in Hyderabad
The affected family was initially treated locally before being referred to hospitals in Hyderabad due to the severity of symptoms. Medical teams are continuing treatment, especially for Vijayashree, who remains in critical condition.
Authorities, including local police at Narayanguda police station, are examining whether the illness was caused by contaminated fruit, pesticide exposure, or another toxic factor. The investigation is ongoing and further forensic and medical reports are awaited.
