Bengaluru: Whitefield police have solved a murder case within 24 hours after initially registering it as an unnatural death at ACS Layout. The investigation revealed that a 58-year-old man named Basha was allegedly killed following a violent altercation at an under-construction site.
The case, which began as a routine death investigation, took a serious turn after forensic and field inquiries pointed towards foul play, prompting police to detain and later arrest a suspect identified as Sundar.
Bengaluru ACS Layout Death Turns Into Murder Case
The body of Basha was discovered inside an under-construction building in ACS Layout under Whitefield police limits. Local residents alerted authorities after spotting the body, following which police teams rushed to the location and initiated a preliminary investigation.
Initially, the death appeared to be accidental or due to natural causes, as there were no visible multiple injury marks on the body except a head injury. However, inconsistencies in the scene and surrounding circumstances prompted police to conduct a deeper probe.
Whitefield division DCP Saidulu Adawat confirmed that early observations did not show extensive injuries, but suspicion arose during the subsequent investigation.
"The case was initially treated as an unnatural death, but evidence gathered during investigation confirmed it to be a murder."
Whitefield Police Investigation Leads to Quick Breakthrough
During the investigation, police questioned individuals working in and around the construction site. Officers soon learned that a worker named Sundar had gone missing shortly after the incident.
This development raised suspicion, leading police to trace and detain Sundar for interrogation. During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime.
The rapid identification and arrest of the suspect helped police solve the case within a short span of time, highlighting coordinated field-level investigation and surveillance efforts.
Alcohol-Linked Altercation Led to Murder at Construction Site
According to police findings, both the victim Basha and accused Sundar were employed at the same construction site.
On the night of the incident, the two reportedly consumed alcohol and later became involved in a heated argument. The dispute escalated quickly, leading to a violent confrontation.
Police said that in a moment of rage, Sundar allegedly struck Basha on the head using a construction iron rod (rebar strap), causing fatal injuries. The victim reportedly died on the spot due to the severity of the blow.
Following the incident, the accused allegedly concealed the body inside a room at the construction site and fled the location.
"A drunken altercation between co-workers escalated into a fatal assault using construction equipment."
Accused Arrested and Sent to Judicial Custody
Based on the confession and supporting evidence, Whitefield police arrested Sundar and produced him before a court. He has been remanded to judicial custody as investigations continue.
Authorities are now examining further details, including the sequence of events leading to the altercation and whether any additional factors contributed to the crime.
Police officials have stated that further forensic analysis and witness statements will help strengthen the case before filing a charge sheet.
