Belagavi police begin investigation after man alleges threats, harassment and inaction in a suicide note linked to a financial dispute

Belagavi: A shocking case has emerged from Karnataka's Belagavi district after a man allegedly died by suicide and left behind a note naming a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and several others. The incident has sparked controversy as the deceased accused certain individuals of threatening him and alleged that police failed to provide justice despite repeated appeals.

The deceased has been identified as Ravindra Danavvagol, a resident of Bendigeri village in Gokak taluk. He was found dead after allegedly hanging himself inside his residence.

Belagavi Suicide Case Triggers Serious Allegations
According to preliminary information, Ravindra had reportedly lent money to two individuals identified as Laxman Chandaragi and Bharamappa Poojari. The deceased alleged that despite repeated requests, the borrowers failed to return the money.

The dispute is believed to have involved approximately Rs 8 lakh. Ravindra reportedly claimed that when he sought repayment, he was instead subjected to threats and intimidation.

Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the financial dispute and the allegations mentioned in the note.

Suicide Note Mentions DySP and PSI
The case gained significant attention after a handwritten note allegedly left by Ravindra surfaced during the investigation.

In the note, the deceased reportedly claimed that he had approached police officials, including a PSI named Anand and a former DySP identified as Mulla, seeking assistance regarding the dispute.

Ravindra further alleged that his complaints were not addressed adequately and claimed he did not receive the support he expected from law enforcement authorities.

The allegations contained in the note are currently under investigation, and officials have not yet verified the claims.
"The allegations mentioned in the suicide note are part of the ongoing investigation, and their authenticity will be examined thoroughly," police sources indicated.
Eight Persons Booked Following Complaint
Following the incident, officers from Mudalagi Police Station visited the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation.

Based on a complaint filed by Ravindra's wife, police have registered a case against eight individuals. Authorities are currently recording statements, collecting evidence and examining all aspects of the matter.
Officials have stated that further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
Police Probe Underway Into Death and Allegations
The inclusion of police officials' names in the note has added a sensitive dimension to the case. Investigators are expected to examine whether the allegations have any factual basis and whether any negligence or misconduct occurred.

Authorities have mentioned that all claims will be verified through a fair and impartial investigation before any conclusions are drawn.
