A four-month pregnant woman dies during treatment after an alleged assault by her husband and in-laws in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district
Ghazipur: A shocking case of alleged domestic violence has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district, where a four-month pregnant woman died after reportedly being thrown from the rooftop of her house following a family dispute. Police have arrested the victim's husband in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused family members.
The victim, identified as Ayesha, sustained critical injuries in the incident and later died during treatment. The case has sparked outrage in the region and raised fresh concerns about domestic abuse and violence against women.
Pregnant Woman Allegedly Attacked After Family Dispute
According to police and family members, the incident occurred on the night of May 26 in the Buddhipur Kot locality under the jurisdiction of Zamania Police Station.
Ayesha had reportedly gone to sleep after dinner when a dispute broke out within the family. Her relatives allege that her husband, Imran Shah, along with his parents and brother, assaulted her before allegedly throwing her from the rooftop of the house.
At the time of the incident, Ayesha was reportedly four months pregnant.
"The victim was allegedly subjected to physical assault before being thrown from the roof, according to the complaint filed by her family."
Victim Succumbed to Injuries During Treatment
Following the incident, Ayesha was found lying seriously injured outside the house. According to family members, her sister Gudiya, who lives nearby, informed relatives about the alleged attack and her critical condition.
After receiving the call, Ayesha's family rushed to the scene and found her in severe pain. She was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Dildarnagar for emergency treatment.
However, doctors declared her dead after medical examination, leaving the family devastated.
The death of the young pregnant woman has triggered grief and anger among relatives and local residents.
Father Accuses Husband and In-Laws of Murder
The victim's father, Sultan Ahmed, lodged a formal complaint at Zamania Police Station, accusing four members of the in-laws' family of murdering his daughter.
In the complaint, he alleged that Ayesha had been subjected to continuous harassment and abuse after marriage. He further claimed that she was assaulted on the night of the incident before being pushed from the rooftop.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against husband Imran Shah, his mother, father, and brother under relevant legal provisions.
Police Arrest Husband, Search for Other Accused Continues
Given the seriousness of the allegations, police launched a search operation to trace the accused individuals.
Officials confirmed that the main accused, Imran Shah, was arrested near the Ganga Bridge intersection during the investigation. Following questioning, he was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police teams are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the remaining accused family members.
"The investigation is ongoing, and legal action will be taken against all those found involved in the case," police officials stated.
Investigation Underway Into Ghazipur Woman's Death
Authorities are currently examining all available evidence, witness statements, and circumstances surrounding the incident to establish the exact sequence of events.
