District Commissioner of Kalaburagi urges residents to avoid stepping out post 4 PM, announces emergency healthcare preparedness amid rising heatwave risks

Kalaburagi: Amid relentless heatwave conditions gripping North Karnataka, the District Commissioner of Kalaburagi has issued a public health advisory, urging citizens to take immediate precautions as temperatures continue to soar between 42°C and 45°C. The advisory, shared through an official post on X (formerly Twitter) along with a video message, highlights the serious health risks posed by extreme heat, including sunstroke and dehydration.

Rising Temperatures Trigger Health Concerns
The District Commissioner warned that the continuous spike in temperature across the district could have adverse effects on both humans and animals, particularly during peak afternoon hours. Authorities have flagged the situation as potentially dangerous, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and outdoor workers.

“As you all know, temperatures in North Karnataka, especially in Kalaburagi, are rising between 42°C and 45°C. I urge people not to step out after 4 PM unless necessary,” the District Commissioner stated in the video message.

Emergency Measures Rolled Out in the Government Sector
In response to the escalating situation, the district administration has begun implementing heat-related training programs across government departments to ensure preparedness. Additionally, special beds and medical facilities have been arranged in hospitals to treat individuals affected by heatstroke and related illnesses.

Public Advisory: Precautionary Steps Issued
The administration has issued a set of preventive guidelines for citizens to minimise health risks during the ongoing heatwave:

  1. Avoid unnecessary outdoor movement, especially during peak heat hours
  2. Wear cotton and light-colored clothing to reduce heat absorption
  3. Stay hydrated and consume fluids regularly
  4. Limit physical exertion under direct sunlight

The Commissioner emphasised that “health is wealth”, appealing to every resident of Kalaburagi to take the situation seriously and adopt safety measures to protect themselves and their families.

Authorities on High Alert as Heatwave Intensifies
With North Karnataka witnessing extreme weather patterns, local authorities remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation. Citizens have been advised to stay updated through official channels and strictly adhere to safety protocols to prevent heat-related emergencies.
