Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough, police in Bengaluru have arrested two men accused of stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 1.13 crore from the residence of Karnataka minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.

According to police officials, the arrested accused have been identified as Syed Ameer and Ameer Ahmed. Both were taken into custody by Shivajinagar Police Station police after an intensive investigation.

Jewellery Stolen Over One Year
Investigators said the theft allegedly took place gradually over nearly one year at the minister’s residence located near the Cantonment area.

The matter came to light after the minister’s mother reportedly noticed missing jewellery and filed a formal complaint with police.

Following the complaint, officers launched an investigation, tracked suspicious movements, and questioned individuals connected to the residence.

Financial Loss Led to Crime?
Preliminary investigation suggests the accused were allegedly facing financial losses in a travel-related business.
Police say the stolen gold ornaments were reportedly pledged to raise money. Investigators suspect the accused then planned to invest that money into real estate ventures in hopes of making profits.
Suspicion reportedly increased after the accused allegedly stopped responding to repeated phone calls, which led police to intensify questioning.
During interrogation, investigators say the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement.

Further Financial Probe Underway
Police are now tracing the pledged jewellery, financial transactions, and possible investments linked to the stolen assets.

“The investigation is ongoing, and financial records connected to the stolen valuables are being examined.”
