Ghaziabad: The main accused in the murder of a 17-year-old Class 11 student in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad was killed after sustaining injuries during a police encounter in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.
The accused, identified as Asad, a resident of the Khoda area, was wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of teenager Surya Chauhan. The incident had triggered widespread outrage in the locality following the victim's death while undergoing treatment.
Ghaziabad Student Murder Case
According to police, Surya Chauhan, a Class 11 student, was allegedly attacked and stabbed by the accused. The teenager suffered critical injuries and was rushed for medical treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The murder sparked a major police operation to trace and arrest the accused involved in the crime.
Police Encounter in Khoda Area
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Dhawal Jaiswal stated that police teams were conducting a search operation when they encountered Asad in the Khoda area. During the operation, an exchange of fire reportedly took place between the accused and the police team.
Asad sustained injuries during the encounter and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Accused Succumbs to Injuries
Police officials confirmed that the accused later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Authorities have initiated the necessary legal procedures following the encounter.
