Two youths allegedly attacked Bengaluru police constables during a late-night patrol in Amruthahalli after being questioned over public drinking and nuisance activities

Bengaluru: A disturbing late-night incident in Bengaluru has raised fresh concerns over the safety of police personnel on duty after two men allegedly assaulted police constables during a routine night patrol in the Amruthahalli area of the city.

The accused, identified as Harsha and Aryan, were reportedly consuming alcohol and creating a nuisance on a deserted roadside when police personnel questioned them. The confrontation soon escalated into a physical assault on the officers, leading to the arrest of both accused.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Amruthahalli Police Station and has sparked debate over increasing attacks on law enforcement officials in Bengaluru.
Two police constables were allegedly assaulted during night beat duty in Bengaluru. The accused were reportedly drinking alcohol inside a Pajero SUV late at night. One of the accused is a software engineer, while the other is a college student. Case registered for assaulting public servants and obstructing official duty.
Night Patrol Turns Violent in Amruthahalli
According to police officials, the incident took place around 3 AM on May 3 when constables Rudrappa and Hanumanthu were conducting routine night patrol duty in the Amruthahalli area.
Police said the accused, Harsha and Aryan, along with two other friends, had gone on a night outing in a Pajero car. The group allegedly parked the vehicle in a secluded location and began consuming alcohol while creating a disturbance in the area.
When the police personnel approached the group and questioned their behaviour, the youths allegedly turned aggressive and entered into an argument with the officers.

Officials stated that the situation quickly spiralled out of control, and the accused allegedly assaulted the two constables on duty.

Software Engineer and Student Among the Arrested Accused
Following the incident, the Amruthahalli police launched an operation and arrested Harsha and Aryan.

According to Northeast Division DCP G.K. Mithun, Harsha works as a software engineer in Bengaluru, while Aryan is pursuing graduation at a reputed college in the city.

Police officials expressed concern that educated youths are increasingly getting involved in reckless and violent activities despite being aware of the law.
“Strict action will be taken against those who attack police personnel performing official duty,” police sources said during the investigation.
Case Registered Against the Accused
Police have registered a case against the accused under charges related to obstructing government servants from discharging duty and physically assaulting police officials.

The accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to determine whether additional charges may be added based on witness statements and evidence collected from the spot.
