Viral Instagram clip exposes major security breach inside Parappana Agrahara Central Jail as an undertrial prisoner secretly uses a mobile phone
Bengaluru: In a shocking revelation, an undertrial prisoner lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has been caught on camera engaging in a video call with his wife from inside the jail, exposing yet another serious security lapse. The video, which quickly went viral on social media, has triggered widespread outrage.
The prisoner, identified as Akbar, allegedly used a mobile phone inside the prison premises without detection by authorities. During the call, he was seen interacting casually and romantically with his wife, raising concerns over how such access was possible in a high-security facility.
The video was reportedly screen-recorded by his wife and uploaded on Instagram on April 9, bringing the issue into public view. Although she later deleted the clip after it went viral, the damage had already been done.
Release Video Adds to Controversy
Further fueling the controversy, the prisoner was released on April 28, and another video of his release was also shared online by his wife. The sequence of events has intensified scrutiny over monitoring and surveillance failures within the jail system.
Repeated Violations Raise Serious Questions
This is not the first time Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has been under the scanner for such violations. The prison has previously faced allegations of luxury lifestyles, contraband smuggling, and unauthorised communication by inmates.
In past incidents, authorities seized over 200 mobile phones within two months. A raid on a barrack uncovered 8 mobile devices, SIM cards, and chargers. A woman was caught trying to hand over Rs. 22,000 in cash to an inmate. Another visitor attempted to smuggle tobacco and a 5G SIM card hidden on her person.
Following earlier controversies, officials had even suspended three officers and appointed a new chief superintendent to tighten security.
“Despite strict measures, repeated violations indicate deeper systemic loopholes,” sources noted.
Security System Under Fire Again
The latest viral video has once again raised serious concerns about internal monitoring, staff accountability, and enforcement of prison rules.
