Bengaluru: A sensational claim that a woman had sold her two-and-a-half-year-old child for Rs 5 lakh has been exposed as false after a detailed police investigation in Bengaluru. The complaint, filed by a man identified as Ravi Babu, triggered panic, but authorities have now confirmed that the child was not sold and the mother is safe along with all three of her children.


Police from Viveknagar tracked down the woman and her children after launching a search based on the allegations. The investigation revealed a completely different story behind the complaint.

During questioning, the woman told police that she had left her matrimonial home due to sustained physical and mental harassment. She stated that she could no longer endure the abuse and chose to move to a safe location with her children.


She further alleged that despite a 16-year marriage, her husband had illicit relationships and was cheating on her. According to her statement, repeated conflicts over these issues led to escalating tensions at home.

“I left the house to protect myself and my children after continuous harassment,” the woman reportedly told police.
