A shocking incident inside Madanayakanahalli Police Station left police officers stunned after an accused allegedly swallowed a locker key during interrogation in a sensitive case
Nelamangala: In a bizarre and unexpected turn of events in Bengaluru Rural, an accused created chaos inside a police station after allegedly swallowing a locker key during police interrogation, forcing officers into an emergency response.
The unusual incident took place at Madanayakanahalli Police Station under Bengaluru North limits, where police had brought a suspect for questioning in connection with a missing minor case.
The accused has been identified as Karthik alias Ramu, a native of Ballari district. According to police sources, the suspect was being questioned after allegations surfaced that he had taken away a 17-year-old minor girl, triggering serious legal concerns.
Missing Complaint Led to Police Action
Police said the case began on April 24, when the girl’s parents filed a missing complaint at the station. During the investigation, officers tracked down Karthik and brought him in for questioning.
However, during interrogation, the accused allegedly panicked over the possibility of facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and suddenly swallowed a police locker key kept nearby.
The incident reportedly caused immediate panic among officers present inside the station.
Emergency Medical Treatment Follows
After realising what had happened, police rushed the accused to a nearby private hospital, where he remained under medical observation for nearly three days.
Sources said officers closely monitored his health condition while doctors advised natural recovery measures.
“The situation became highly unusual. Our immediate priority was ensuring the accused’s safety and recovering the swallowed object without complications,” sources said.
Police Wait in Tension for Three Days
After days of medical monitoring, the swallowed key was eventually recovered naturally, bringing relief to the police team handling the case.
Authorities confirmed that the accused is currently under legal custody, and further investigation into the original case is continuing.
Case Registered, Investigation Continues
Police have registered the case and are examining all aspects related to the minor girl’s disappearance as well as the accused’s conduct during custody.
