SIT Nabs Accused in Shocking Shootout Case; Weapons, Vehicles Seized as Police Probe Motive Behind Brutal Killing

Vijayapura: In a major breakthrough, Vijayapura police have arrested six accused in connection with the brutal murder of former gram panchayat member Raju Khare, who was killed in a shocking attack earlier this month. The arrests were made following an intensive investigation led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The accused have been identified as Abusya Kodlekar, Abashya Mane, Vagish Pol, Jalinder Mallari, Khandoba Tambe, and Murugu Hake. According to police, all six were directly involved in executing the crime.

Victim Run Over, Shot Dead in Planned Attack

The incident took place on April 14 in the Aliabad Industrial Area on the outskirts of Vijayapura, where Raju Khare, a resident of Aliabad, was first hit by a tipper vehicle and then shot dead by the assailants.

Police sources revealed that multiple rounds were fired, ensuring that the victim had no chance of survival. In a chilling escalation, the attackers allegedly pelted stones at the victim after the shooting, before fleeing the scene.

Weapons, Vehicles Seized During Operation

Confirming the arrests, Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police, said that authorities recovered two country-made pistols, seven mobile phones, two motorcycles, a tipper truck, and a car used in the crime.

The swift action by the SIT helped trace and apprehend the accused within days of the incident.

Forensic Teams Examined Crime Scene

Following the murder, police teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, initiating a detailed investigation. Forensic experts, along with dog squads and SOCO teams, collected crucial evidence from the site and recorded statements from eyewitnesses.

Motive Under Investigation, Enmity Suspected

While the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be officially confirmed, initial investigations point towards personal enmity or local disputes. Police are examining the victim’s background and recent activities to establish the trigger behind the targeted killing.

The case had triggered panic among residents, given the gruesome and premeditated nature of the attack, raising concerns over law and order in the region.

With all six accused now in custody, police said further interrogation is underway to uncover any larger conspiracy or additional involvement.
