The Karnataka High Court has disposed of the state’s review plea and made it clear that marks must be awarded for SSLC Hindi from 2025-26, triggering fresh uncertainty over result timelines
Bengaluru: Fresh confusion has emerged over the Karnataka SSLC results after the Karnataka High Court disposed of the state government’s review petition in the ongoing dispute over the evaluation of the SSLC Hindi subject.
The court reportedly clarified that marks, not grades, must be awarded for Hindi from the 2025-26 academic year, while also making sharp observations on sudden changes to the examination system.
The development has now raised the possibility of further delay in announcing SSLC results.
Court’s Strong Observation
During the hearing, the bench reportedly observed that if authorities intended to pass everyone, they might as well cancel the examination itself.
The court also indicated that changing the evaluation pattern without first framing proper rules would not be appropriate.
“Changing the exam system without rules is not proper.”
The remarks have intensified debate over education policy and exam reforms in Karnataka.
Minister Madhu Bangarappa Responds
Reacting to the order, Madhu Bangarappa said he would discuss the matter with the Chief Minister before deciding the next course of action.
According to the minister, earlier proceedings had reportedly gone in the government’s favour, but the latest order now requires review at the highest level.
He stated that he had received updates from the Advocate General’s office and the department and had already informed the Chief Minister.
