Commuter relief as BMTC rolls out dedicated routes from stadium to major city points on April 15, 18 and 24 for IPL matches
Bengaluru: In a major move to ease travel for cricket fans, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation has announced special bus services during the Indian Premier League 2026 matches scheduled on April 15, 18 and 24 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The initiative aims to provide efficient, reliable, and affordable transportation for thousands of spectators expected to attend the high-profile T20 clashes in the city.
Special Services to Operate Post-Match Based on Demand
BMTC officials confirmed that buses will be deployed from the stadium to multiple key destinations across Bengaluru, depending on real-time traffic conditions and passenger demand. The move is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve last-mile connectivity after match hours.
Route Details Announced for IPL Match Days
The corporation has released a list of designated routes to facilitate the smooth dispersal of crowds:
- G-2: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Sarjapura
- G-3: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Electronic City (Hosur Road)
- G-4: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Bannerghatta National Park
- G-10: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to R K Hegde Nagara (via Nagavara, Tannery Road)
- 317 G: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Hosakote
- 13: M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Banashankari
These routes cover major residential and IT corridors, ensuring that spectators from different parts of the city can travel conveniently.
Boost for Public Transport During Mega Sporting Event
With IPL matches drawing massive crowds, BMTC’s decision is seen as a timely intervention to manage traffic flow and promote public transport usage. Authorities have urged commuters to opt for these services instead of private vehicles to avoid congestion around the stadium.
The plan is also expected to support traffic police efforts in regulating post-match rush, particularly in central Bengaluru areas.
