A major fire broke out near Ashvem Beach in North Goa, destroying at least six resort cottages as terrified guests rushed out to safety. No injuries were reported
Panaji: A sudden fire near the scenic Ashvem Beach in North Goa triggered panic late Thursday night after flames engulfed and destroyed at least six cottages of a beach resort, officials confirmed.
The blaze reportedly broke out around 8:45 PM near the Ajoba Temple area, sending guests scrambling out of the premises as smoke and flames rapidly spread across the resort property.
Guests Escape in Time as Fire Spreads
According to police officials, tourists and guests staying inside the cottages fled immediately after noticing the fire. Quick evacuation helped prevent casualties in what could have turned into a major tragedy.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.
“All guests managed to escape safely before the fire intensified,” an official stated.
Six Resort Cottages Reduced to Ashes
The fire completely gutted at least six cottages located inside the beachside resort. Eyewitnesses said flames spread quickly due to the cottage's structure and the surrounding dry materials.
Firefighters were rushed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further.
Cause Yet to Be Confirmed
Police and fire department teams have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Electrical short circuit, kitchen source, or accidental ignition are among the possibilities being examined.
Officials are also assessing the total property damage caused by the fire.
