Aircraft remains airborne for nearly four hours before safe landing at Bengaluru, passengers report distress and seek clarity on the cause

Hubballi: The Fly91 Airlines flight operating from Hyderabad to Hubballi narrowly escaped a major disaster after it was unable to land at its scheduled destination and remained airborne for nearly four hours before making an emergency landing in Bengaluru.

The incident left passengers shaken, emotional, and fearing for their lives as the aircraft repeatedly circled over multiple Karnataka regions without landing. Several travellers reportedly contacted family members, expressing fear that they may not return safely.

The flight had departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, at around 3:00 PM on Sunday and was expected to land at Hubballi Airport by 4:30 PM. However, what should have been a routine short journey turned into a nightmare after the aircraft failed to land in Hubballi despite multiple attempts.

Instead of landing, the aircraft reportedly continued flying over areas including Mundgod, Davanagere, and Shivamogga, creating panic among passengers who had no clarity about what was happening inside the cabin.

Finally, at around 7:30 PM, the flight was diverted and safely landed at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, bringing an anxious end to the prolonged aerial ordeal.

Passengers Break Down in Fear During Mid-Air Crisis
Passengers onboard reportedly became increasingly distressed as the plane remained in the air far beyond the scheduled arrival time. Some were seen crying, while others messaged relatives saying they feared for their safety.
“We did not know whether we would land safely. Nobody gave us clear information,” one passenger reportedly said after landing.
Families waiting in Hubballi also expressed anger, alleging that the airline failed to provide timely updates regarding the delay, diversion, and passenger safety.

What Caused the Fly91 Flight Diversion? Weather or Technical Trouble?
The exact reason behind the failed landing attempt remains unclear. While some passengers claimed the aircraft may have suffered a technical issue, aviation sources suggested that adverse weather conditions in Hubballi may have prevented a safe landing.

So far, Fly91 Airlines has not issued a detailed official statement clarifying whether the incident was caused by mechanical trouble, poor visibility, wind conditions, or another operational challenge.
The absence of immediate communication has triggered criticism, with many demanding transparency and accountability from the airline.
