Midnight blaze near Laxmangarh kills three women, a man, and a child; driver escapes but suffers 80% burns as probe begins
Jaipur: In a devastating incident that has shocked the nation, five members of a family were burned alive after their car suddenly caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Alwar district late Tuesday night.
The incident occurred near Maujpur under the jurisdiction of Laxmangarh police station. The victims, identified as residents of Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh, included three women, one man, and a child.
The car, which was travelling towards Kota, reportedly caught fire around 1 AM, and within moments, the flames engulfed the vehicle, leaving the occupants with no chance to escape.
Driver Jumps Out, Battles for Life
The driver, Vinod Kumar Mehar, managed to jump out of the vehicle in time, narrowly escaping death. However, he sustained over 80% burn injuries and remains in a critical condition.
Fire Brigade Responds, Vehicle Gutted
Fire and emergency services rushed to the scene, but by the time the flames were extinguished, the car had been completely reduced to ashes.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
Senior police officials visited the site and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the sudden fire. Preliminary findings are yet to confirm whether it was due to a mechanical fault or other reasons.
“The fire spread rapidly, leaving little time for rescue. We are investigating the exact cause,” a senior police officer said.
