Woman steals coconuts repeatedly from local shop, CCTV footage exposes pattern, police launch probe after multiple incidents

Bengaluru: In a bizarre yet troubling theft case, a woman has been caught on CCTV allegedly stealing coconuts repeatedly from a local shop under the limits of Mahalaxmi Layout Police Station, leaving the shop owner frustrated and on constant alert.

The incident occurred at a store identified as ‘Shri Lakshmi Devi Rice Corner’, where the accused woman reportedly entered the premises around 3 am on April 15, 2026, and stole nearly 15 coconuts. The entire act was clearly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the shop.

Repeated Theft Raises Alarm

According to the shop owner, this is not an isolated incident but part of a repeated pattern of theft. He claims the same woman has targeted his shop multiple times earlier, making it a recurring problem.

Despite maintaining vigilance over the past week and closely monitoring suspicious activity, the accused allegedly managed to evade detection and strike again, intensifying concerns over security.

“This is not a one-time theft, she has been doing this repeatedly. We were watching carefully, but she still managed to escape,” the shop owner stated.

CCTV Footage Becomes Key Evidence

The latest theft was captured in clear detail, showing the woman entering the premises and carrying away coconuts without raising suspicion. The footage has now become crucial evidence in identifying and tracing the accused.

Police officials confirmed that a complaint has been registered based on the CCTV visuals, and efforts are underway to track down the suspect.

Police Probe Underway

Authorities from Mahalaxmi Layout Police Station have initiated an investigation, examining CCTV footage, local inputs, and possible movement patterns of the accused.

Officials indicated that repeated petty thefts, especially targeting small businesses, are being taken seriously due to their impact on daily livelihoods.

Impact on Small Traders

Frequent theft incidents like these have raised concerns among local shopkeepers, who say such activities are causing financial losses and insecurity, particularly for small-scale traders.

Police have assured that steps are being taken to identify the accused and prevent further incidents, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity promptly.
