West Bengal-origin woman attacked, dragged from home in Varthur; police register FIR, arrest one accused, probe intensifies into privacy violation and mob assault
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident that raises serious concerns over women’s safety and privacy, a woman from West Bengal was allegedly dragged out of her house and brutally assaulted in the Varthur police station limits of Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred on the night of April 4, came to light later, triggering outrage and swift police action.
According to reports, the victim was inside her residence with a youth when a group of individuals stormed in, shouting accusations: “Are you running prostitution in our area?” The mob allegedly forcibly pulled the woman out of her home and assaulted her mercilessly in public view. The youth who was present reportedly fled the scene as the situation escalated.
“The attackers violated her privacy, humiliated her publicly, and subjected her to inhuman violence based on mere suspicion,” sources said.
Severe Injuries, FIR Registered
The woman sustained serious injuries in the attack. Following the incident, a case has been registered at the Varthur Police Station. Authorities have confirmed that an FIR has been filed, treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
Police Action and Investigation
Police have already detained one accused and are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend others involved. Officials have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for the assault and for violating the woman’s right to privacy.
