Bengaluru: In a focused civic review drive, Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra K.V. conducted an extensive site inspection in Padmanabhanagar division, assessing road widening plans, sanitation systems, and Census-2027 preparations.

The visit underlined the administration’s push to strengthen urban infrastructure, improve waste management, and streamline upcoming census operations at the grassroots level.

Road Widening Under B-SMILE Scheme Reviewed

As part of the current budget’s B-SMILE scheme, the Commissioner inspected a 1.2 km stretch of Ittamadu Road proposed for widening in the Padmanabhanagar area.

Officials, including surveyors, town planners, and revenue staff, were directed to jointly examine the site and expedite necessary actions, ensuring that the project progresses without delays.

During the inspection of Ittamadu Road in Hosakerehalli Ward, the Commissioner reviewed on-ground sanitation conditions and issued strict directions to health inspectors and marshals.

He emphasised efficient waste management practices and ordered strict penalties against illegal garbage dumping, signalling a zero-tolerance approach towards civic violations.

Census-2027 Preparations Reviewed on the Ground

In a key review of the Census-2027 groundwork, Rajendra visited 5th Cross, T.G. Layout in Hosakerehalli Ward, where he assessed the block-wise and household listing process.

Interacting directly with enumerators and supervisors, he monitored data collection procedures and instructed teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.

He also urged property owners to clear current-year property taxes and promoted awareness about obtaining e-Khata, highlighting its importance in urban records and governance.

Officials Present During Inspection

The inspection was attended by Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Sayida Afreen Banu, Superintendent Engineer Jayashankar, along with town planners, executive engineers, revenue officials, enumerators, and other civic staff, reflecting a coordinated administrative effort.

The civic exercise signals a broader push by city authorities to improve infrastructure, enforce sanitation discipline, and ensure seamless execution of national-level data collection initiatives.
