Tumakur: In a landmark moment for women’s empowerment and public health awareness, the Pinkthon Rally held under Mahilotsava-2026 at Tumkur University has been officially recorded in the India Book of Records, with an astounding participation of 5,628 women.
The mega event, held on March 25, 2026, was jointly organised by the Women’s Study Centre of Tumkur University and the Roopantara Women Empowerment and Community Development Centre, making a powerful statement about women’s unity, health awareness, and social change.

The rally aimed to spread awareness about critical health issues, including breast cancer, cervical cancer, PCOS, and PCOD, drawing participation from thousands of women across the region.

Nagalakshmi Chaudhary, Chairperson of the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, urged youth to reject superstitious practices and use women’s helplines when required. Dr. Anitha Ravishankar from Sparsh Hospital, Bengaluru, explained early detection methods for breast and cervical cancer and highlighted preventive healthcare measures.
Leadership Calls for Awareness and Empowerment
Nahida Zam Zam, Registrar of Tumkur University, flagged off the rally and emphasized the importance of addressing health concerns while continuing to progress confidently in life.
