Threatening emails sent to top leaders including Speaker Vijender Gupta, CM Rekha Gupta and PM Narendra Modi; security agencies launch urgent probe
New Delhi: A major security scare gripped the national capital after a bomb threat email was sent to Vijender Gupta, warning of explosions at key locations including the Delhi Assembly and metro stations.
According to officials, the email threatened to blow up the Delhi Assembly building and metro stations, raising alarm across security agencies. The threat was not limited to one individual, as several top leaders were reportedly named.
Among those who received threats are Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
Additionally, the email reportedly mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Timeline of Threat Email
Officials stated that the email was received by the Speaker at around 7:49 AM, while a similar message reached the Assembly earlier at 7:28 AM, prompting immediate action.
Security Tightened, Searches Conducted
Following the alert, security personnel rushed to the Assembly premises and conducted thorough checks, including the Speaker’s office. Security has been significantly tightened across sensitive locations, including metro stations.
“All necessary precautions are being taken, and the situation is under close monitoring,” officials said.
Previous Threats Raise Concern
This is not the first such incident. In February, multiple institutions, including the Assembly, Secretariat, Red Fort, and schools, received similar bomb threats, which later turned out to be hoaxes after extensive checks.
Cyber Probe Underway
Cybercrime teams are now working to trace the origin of the email, with initial findings suggesting that perpetrators may have used VPN services to conceal their identity and mislead investigators.
Heightened Vigilance Across Delhi
Authorities have placed the entire city on high alert, with continuous surveillance and checks being carried out to ensure public safety.
