Over 7.10 Lakh Students Appear for Exams Across 1,217 Centres as Administrative Lapses Trigger Panic in Yadgir
Yadgir: The Second PUC examinations commenced across Karnataka on Friday, with more than 7.10 lakh students appearing for the crucial state-level exams. The examinations are being conducted under the supervision of the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, covering 1,217 examination centres across the state. Authorities have implemented strict security measures, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, to ensure a fair and malpractice-free examination process.
However, amid these arrangements, an administrative lapse by the PU Board and college management resulted in confusion and distress among students in Yadgir, highlighting serious coordination issues on the first day of the exams.
Students Struggle to Locate Examination Centre
Several students who arrived to write the Second PUC examination in Yadgir were left struggling to find their allotted examination centre after discovering that the address printed on their hall tickets did not match the actual location. The confusion centered around Saba PU College, one of the designated examination centres in Yadgir city.
Students from different towns and villages reported moments of panic after being unable to locate the centre on time. While Saba PU College is situated near Lumbini Park, the hall tickets erroneously mentioned Ganj Road as the address. This discrepancy forced students to wander for hours in search of the centre, raising concerns over the lack of verification in exam-related documentation. Eventually, many students managed to reach the centre with assistance from local residents, narrowly avoiding missing the examination.
Exams Scheduled Till March 17 Amid Tight Restrictions
According to officials, the Second PUC examinations will continue until March 17. In line with standard operating procedures, mobile phones have been strictly prohibited for both students and staff within examination premises. The use of electronic gadgets, entry of unauthorized individuals, and any form of videography or photography during the exams have been completely banned. Authorities have also imposed restrictions on carrying explosive or prohibited materials within notified zones. Additionally, the installation of CCTV cameras at every examination centre has been made mandatory to maintain transparency and discipline.
