A Bengaluru court extended the judicial custody of Prajwal Revanna and Pratap Rai in the Parappana Agrahara jail mobile phone case after two days of police interrogation.
Bengaluru: Prajwal Revanna was produced before the court of 42nd ACJM Judge Sandeep Patil in Bengaluru on Thursday after completing two days of police interrogation in connection with the discovery of an Android mobile phone inside the barracks of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
After the interrogation period ended, the court ordered an extension of judicial custody for Prajwal Revanna and another accused, Pratap Rai, in the case.
Prajwal Revanna Questioned Over Jail Mobile Phone
During the police interrogation, Prajwal Revanna reportedly admitted to making calls to his father Revanna and mother Bhavani from inside the jail.
However, Prajwal reportedly told the police that he had called them only once.
The calls have become part of the investigation into the alleged unauthorised use of a mobile phone inside the prison.
Pratap Rai Listed As A-1 And Prajwal Revanna As A-2
The case was registered following the discovery of an Android mobile phone in the jail barracks. In the case, Pratap Rai has been named as A-1, while Prajwal Revanna is listed as A-2 accused.
Police are investigating how the mobile phone reached the prison barracks and how it was allegedly used while the accused were in custody.
Police Investigate Videos And Chats On Mobile
The investigation is also focusing on the videos and chats found on the mobile phone. Police are examining the contents of the device as part of efforts to establish its use inside the jail and determine the circumstances surrounding the communications and other activities linked to it.
The court has now extended the judicial custody of both accused as the investigation continues.
