Washington: The United States has completed an 11th consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The operations targeted multiple military installations and logistical assets that the US said were linked to Iran's operational capabilities.
CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to reduce Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.
"The strikes targeted Iranian military operations centres, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities and military logistics infrastructure," CENTCOM said.
US Strikes Target Iranian Military Infrastructure
According to CENTCOM, the latest strikes focused on military operations centres, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, maritime assets and logistics infrastructure.
The US military said the objective of the operation was to degrade Iran's military capabilities and reduce potential threats to international commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Officials have not released further operational details regarding the scale of the strikes or any assessment of the damage.
Iranian Media Reports Airstrikes in Multiple Provinces
Iranian media reported that several locations were targeted during the latest wave of strikes.
According to the IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency, multiple locations in Kabudarahang County in Hamadan Province were hit in reported US airstrikes.
State media also reported attacks in Ilam and Kurdistan provinces. Reports said the Chavar and Abdanan areas in Ilam province were targeted, while Abdanan's governor confirmed an attack in the Dinar Kuh area.
In Kurdistan province, official media reported that an area outside the city of Baneh was also struck.
Iranian media reported airstrikes in Hamadan, Ilam and Kurdistan provinces, while authorities continued assessing the impact.
Marco Rubio Says US Open to Talks with Iran
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington remains willing to engage in negotiations if Iran demonstrates a genuine commitment to dialogue.
Speaking during an ASEAN meeting, Rubio said previous understandings had not been implemented by Tehran and reiterated that the United States would respond if Iran was unwilling to engage constructively.
"If they are serious, we are serious. If they are not, then we will do what is necessary to protect our interests and the interests of our allies," Rubio said.
Rubio also stated that Iran's position regarding control over traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was not supported under existing international legal mechanisms.
