Prajwal Revanna remains in Parappana Agrahara prison as Chennamma's last rites are scheduled with full state honours this afternoon
Former MP Prajwal Revanna has not applied for parole to attend the funeral of his grandmother Chennamma, wife of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. Prison authorities said parole would be difficult as other criminal cases are pending, though he may be allowed to watch the funeral through video conferencing if requested. Chennamma's last rites are scheduled to be held with full state honours at the foothills of Mavinakere Hill on Monday afternoon.
Hassan: Former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case and is lodged at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru, has not applied for parole to attend the funeral of his grandmother Chennamma, wife of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.
According to prison authorities, no parole application has been received from Prajwal Revanna. Officials said obtaining parole would be difficult as other criminal cases against him are still under trial. However, if a request is made through the prescribed procedure, prison authorities may permit him to watch the funeral proceedings through video conferencing.
"Prajwal Revanna has not applied for parole. Since other cases are under trial, parole would be difficult. If the prison authorities receive a request, arrangements can be made for him to watch the funeral through video conferencing," Parappana Agrahara Central Prison Superintendent Anshu Kumar said.
Chennamma Funeral Scheduled With State Honours
The last rites of Chennamma are scheduled to be held with full state honours at the foothills of Mavinakere Hill in Hassan district at 3 pm on Monday(Today). Union Ministers, BJP and JD(S) leaders, elected representatives and senior political figures are expected to attend the funeral.

Despite intermittent rain, thousands of people have gathered at the residence of JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna in Holenarasipur to pay their last respects before the funeral procession begins.
Mortal Remains Taken Through Holenarasipur
After religious rituals at the Revanna residence, Chennamma's mortal remains are being taken through the main streets of Holenarasipur before proceeding to Haradanahalli and later to Paduvalahippe village.
The family has appealed to the public to participate in the final journey and pay their respects peacefully.
H.D. Revanna Explains Final Resting Place
H.D. Revanna said the family decided to perform the last rites near the Ranganathaswamy Temple at Paduvalahippe, a place that held special significance for Chennamma.

According to him, the land was purchased in 1962 after selling his mother's jewellery and remained emotionally important to her. He also said the final rites would be conducted with her head facing south in accordance with family traditions.
Thousands Gather to Pay Final Respects
Large crowds continue to arrive at the Revanna residence despite the rain to pay homage to Chennamma. Political leaders from across Karnataka and representatives of various organisations are expected to participate in the funeral later in the day.
