Bengaluru: In an effort to promote the adoption of rescued native breed dogs, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Bengaluru East Municipal Corporation will organise the "Second Innings" Dog Adoption Programme at Nexus Shantiniketan Mall, Whitefield, on July 18 at 3 pm.
The adoption drive will feature healthy Indian native breed dogs that have been rescued from accidents, cruelty, abandonment or other difficult situations. Many of the dogs have undergone treatment and rehabilitation and are now ready to become part of loving families.
The civic body has appealed to Bengaluru residents to participate in the programme and give rescued desi dogs a safe and permanent home.
"Healthy native breed dogs rescued from accidents, cruelty and abandonment are ready for adoption. Citizens are encouraged to give them a second chance at life," the civic body said.

Requires Lifelong Commitment in Bengaluru Dog Adoption Drive
Officials stressed that adopting a pet is a lifelong responsibility rather than a temporary decision.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority noted that abandoned pets often suffer emotional distress, making it important for adopters to commit to providing permanent care, affection and a safe environment.
Authorities urged prospective adopters to adopt responsibly, as rescued dogs deserve stable and permanent homes.
Passive Adoption Option Introduced in Bengaluru Dog Adoption Drive
For citizens who are unable to keep a pet at home but still wish to contribute to animal welfare, the programme also offers a Passive Adoption initiative.
Under this arrangement, individuals can financially support elderly, injured or medically challenged rescue dogs by helping meet their food, medical and care expenses without taking them home.
Officials said every adoption and sponsorship will be carried out under the prescribed guidelines and official protocols.
Public Invited to Participate in Bengaluru Dog Adoption Drive
The Greater Bengaluru Authority has appealed to animal lovers, families and responsible pet owners across Bengaluru to participate in the adoption event and help rescued Indian native dogs find caring homes.
