Thoothukudi: A tragic incident in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district claimed the life of a 29-year-old newly married woman after she fell from a cliff at Kazhugumalai hill temple, reportedly during a sudden encounter with monkeys. The deceased has been identified as Anitha, a resident of South Thittankulam.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when Anitha and her husband Suresh, who had recently returned from abroad, visited the Kalagasalamurthy temple at Kazhugumalai to offer prayers.
Kazhugumalai Hill Temple Visit Turns Fatal After Monkey Encounter
After completing prayers at the main temple, the couple proceeded to the Uchippillaiyar temple located atop the hill. While offering fruits to monkeys in the area, a group of monkeys allegedly surrounded them, causing panic among the visitors.
In the ensuing commotion, Anitha reportedly lost her balance and accidentally slipped from the edge of the hill. She suffered fatal injuries due to the fall and died on the spot, according to initial police inputs.
The sudden turn of events has shocked locals and devotees who frequently visit the hill temple, a popular pilgrimage site in the region.
