A young man's body was found hanging from the gate of a Hanuman temple in Ranchi

Ranchi: Panic gripped parts of Ranchi after the body of a young man was found hanging from the main gate of a Hanuman temple in the city's Hinoo area. The shocking discovery has triggered a police investigation, with authorities examining whether the death was a case of suicide or if foul play was involved.

The temple death has particularly drawn attention due to the unusual circumstances under which the body was discovered, prompting investigators to explore multiple angles before reaching any conclusion.

"Police are awaiting post-mortem findings to determine whether the death was a suicide or the result of a criminal act."

Body Found Hanging at Hanuman Temple Gate

The incident occurred in the Hinoo locality under the jurisdiction of Doranda Police Station. According to police, the body of a young man was found hanging from a noose tied to an iron angle attached to the main gate of a Hanuman temple located near the registry office.

The discovery caused alarm among residents and devotees in the area, with crowds gathering near the temple after news of the incident spread.

Police personnel reached the spot shortly after receiving information and took custody of the body. The deceased was later sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have since begun a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Victim Identified as Local Resident

According to preliminary information, the deceased has been identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Hinoo and the son of the late Ramesh Lohara.

Police sources said Sonu worked as a labourer at a tent house. Local residents and family members informed investigators that he had allegedly struggled with substance abuse issues for some time.

Officials stated that initial observations suggest the possibility of suicide. However, investigators are not ruling out any other possibilities at this stage.

Residents reported that some passersby noticed the body hanging near the temple gate on Sunday evening and immediately alerted the police.

"The case appears to be a suicide at first glance, but investigators are examining all possibilities before drawing conclusions."

Murder Angle Also Under Examination

Investigators are also examining whether the death could be linked to a dispute or altercation that may have occurred before the incident.

Police are exploring the possibility that the young man may have been involved in a drunken argument and subsequently became the victim of foul play. Authorities are investigating whether the body was later suspended at the temple gate to create the appearance of suicide.

Officials highlighted that the final determination regarding the cause and manner of death will depend on post-mortem findings and forensic evidence.

The deceased is survived by his mother, two brothers, and a sister. Family members stated that frequent disputes reportedly occurred due to his alleged addiction problems.

His mother, Pinky Devi, works as a daily wage labourer and is the primary earning member of the family.

Police Continue Investigation Into the Case

The investigation into the temple death remains ongoing, with police awaiting forensic and medical reports that could help clarify whether the incident was a suicide or a homicide.

Officials have appealed to the public to avoid speculation while inquiries continue.
