A Pune real estate businessman’s death at Lohagad Fort, initially treated as an accident, has now unfolded into a premeditated murder conspiracy involving his fiancée and her alleged partner

The Lohagad Fort case involving Pune businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal has shocked Maharashtra after police alleged that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to murder him. What initially appeared to be a trekking accident has now turned into a detailed investigation involving multiple failed attempts, digital evidence, and confessions. The case has drawn national attention following arrests made on June 23, 2026, with both accused remanded to police custody on June 24.

Pune: A chilling murder investigation unfolding in Maharashtra has taken a dramatic turn, with police uncovering what they allege was a carefully planned conspiracy to kill 26-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal at Lohagad Fort near Pune.

The case, which initially appeared to be a trekking accident, has now been reclassified as a premeditated murder involving his fiancée, Siya Goyal and her alleged partner Chetan Babulal Chaudhary.

Police say the incident involved multiple failed attempts before the final alleged act on June 18, 2026.

From Celebrated Engagement to Alleged Betrayal

Ketan Agarwal, a director in his family-run real estate business in Pune, was engaged to Siya Goyal, with their wedding reportedly planned for later in 2026.

The couple had shared a public image of happiness, including engagement celebrations and elaborate pre-wedding arrangements, which reportedly included a high-value wedding plan.

However, investigators now allege that Siya had been in a parallel relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, whom she met through professional circles nearly a year earlier.

Police sources claim that Chetan viewed Ketan as an obstacle to their relationship, while Siya allegedly feared social and familial repercussions if she broke off the engagement.

Alleged Multi-Stage Murder Plan at Lohagad Fort

According to the investigation, Lohagad Fort near Lonavala, a popular trekking destination, became the central location of repeated visits allegedly linked to the conspiracy.

The case includes multiple alleged attempts:

May 31, 2026 – First Alleged Attempt:
Police believe Siya and Ketan visited the fort together, where an early attempt may have been made to push him from a height. However, the attempt reportedly failed after Ketan managed to hold onto vegetation and survive.

Early June 2026 – Planned Second Visit:
A second planned visit was reportedly stopped by Ketan’s family, preventing further escalation at that time.

June 14, 2026 – Survived Fall Incident:
Investigators claim Siya took Ketan to the fort again and allegedly pushed him near a cliff. Ketan survived after grabbing onto a bush or tree. According to family accounts, Siya allegedly misled him by claiming she had seen a snake near the edge and that the fall was accidental, after which Ketan reportedly accepted her explanation.

June 18, 2026 – Final Alleged Murder:
On Siya’s birthday, Ketan was reportedly taken to Lohagad Fort again under the pretext of celebration and pre-wedding photography. Police say Chetan Chaudhary was already present at the location and had been monitoring movements.

At a secluded cliffside location overlooking a deep gorge, investigators allege that both accused pushed Ketan, leading to his death. Some reports also suggest he may have been struck before the fall.

Siya initially told family members that Ketan slipped while taking photographs in windy conditions.

Body Recovery and Initial Accident Theory

Ketan’s body was recovered the following day, June 19, after a difficult search operation in rugged terrain. He was declared dead at a local hospital.

The case was initially registered as an accidental death, but inconsistencies in statements and growing suspicion from the victim’s family led to a deeper investigation.

Breakthrough Evidence in Investigation

The case took a major turn after forensic and digital evidence began to surface.

Key investigative findings reportedly include:

  • CCTV footage showing a hooded individual following the couple near the fort entrance
  • Suspicious phone inactivity patterns linked to the co-accused
  • Repeated visits to the same isolated locations at the fort
  • Digital communication records and behavioral inconsistencies
  • A social media post by Siya expressing grief, which later drew scrutiny from investigators

Police believe these factors collectively pointed toward a planned conspiracy rather than an accidental fall.

Arrests and Custody

Following sustained interrogation, both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23, 2026.

On June 24, a Pune Magistrate Court remanded both accused to police custody for seven days until June 29 to allow further investigation into the planning, execution and possible involvement of additional individuals.

Authorities are also examining whether the murder plan included multiple contingencies, referred to in reports as a possible “backup plan.”

Family Reaction and Public Shock

The case has triggered widespread shock across Maharashtra and on social media, where details of the relationship and alleged betrayal have gone viral.

Ketan’s family has expressed deep grief, stating that they had trusted Siya as a family member and never suspected any wrongdoing.

Public discourse has focused heavily on trust in relationships, digital footprints in investigations, and the increasing number of staged accident cases being reported in recent years.

Investigation Continues

As of June 24, 2026, the investigation remains ongoing, with police examining forensic evidence, mobile data, and witness statements to reconstruct the full sequence of events.

Authorities have indicated that further charges may be added depending on the outcome of custody interrogation and additional technical evidence.

The case continues to develop as one of the most high-profile alleged premeditated murder conspiracies in recent months in Maharashtra.
