Decomposed body of 74-year-old woman discovered in DLF Phase 2 bathroom as police investigate circumstances surrounding death
Gurugram: A 74-year-old woman was found dead inside her residence in Gurugram's DLF Phase 2 area, days after she was reported missing by her daughter, police said Today. The discovery of the decomposed body has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased has been identified as Rita Bakshi, who lived on the second floor of a house in the upscale DLF Phase 2 locality. According to police, her body was recovered from the bathroom of the residence after authorities conducted a search following a missing person complaint.
Gurugram Woman Found Dead After Missing Complaint
Police said Rita Bakshi's daughter, Rajni Bakshi, had approached the DLF Phase 2 Police Station on May 28 and filed a missing person complaint. In the complaint, she stated that her mother had been missing since May 25.
Following the complaint, police initiated efforts to trace the elderly woman and verify the details surrounding her disappearance.
Decomposed Body Discovered Inside Residence
During the course of the investigation, authorities searched the residence and discovered Rita Bakshi's decomposed body inside the bathroom of the house. The condition of the body indicated that she may have been dead for several days before being found.
The discovery shocked residents of the neighbourhood, who described the incident as disturbing and unexpected.
Police Probe Cause of Death
Investigators are currently examining all possible angles to determine how and when the woman died. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide crucial details regarding the cause and time of death.
Police officials have not ruled out any possibilities and are awaiting forensic and medical reports before drawing conclusions.
"The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem and forensic examination reports are received," officials said.
