Police launch investigation after 17-year-old girl allegedly killed inside Meerut home
Meerut: A shocking murder case involving a 17-year-old girl has surfaced in Meerut, where police have booked and detained the teenager’s father and stepmother over allegations of killing her inside their home.
The incident came to light after the girl’s maternal uncle approached the police and accused the father and stepmother of murdering the teenager under suspicious circumstances.
The case has triggered outrage in the locality and intensified discussions around crimes against minors and domestic violence.
Teenager Allegedly Murdered Inside Family Home
According to police officials, the accused father has been identified as Kapil Bhardwaj, a resident of Gokuldham Society in the Bhavanpur area of Meerut district.
Investigators said Kapil’s first wife, Preeti, died in 2017, after which he was reportedly living with his children and second wife.
The deceased teenager, identified as Khushi alias Khushboo, was reportedly living with the family when the alleged murder took place.
Authorities stated that the case was registered after the victim’s maternal uncle lodged a formal complaint, suspecting foul play.
“Both the father and stepmother have been detained, and further investigation is in progress,” police officials confirmed.
Police Begin Detailed Investigation in Meerut Murder Case
Officials from Uttar Pradesh Police stated that forensic examination and questioning of family members are currently underway.
Investigators are also examining the circumstances leading to the teenager’s death and possible motives behind the alleged crime.
The body of the victim has reportedly been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities said additional evidence and witness statements are being collected as part of the ongoing inquiry.
