Drunken youths attack a constable during a late-night patrol in Amruthahalli, two arrested, manhunt on for the remaining accused

Bengaluru: In a serious law-and-order incident, two engineering students have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police constable on night patrol duty in north Bengaluru after being questioned for drinking liquor in public.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 1 on Dasarahalli Main Road under the jurisdiction of the Amruthahalli police station. Constable Rudrappa, who was on routine night beat duty, noticed a group of four youths consuming liquor while standing near a parked Pajero vehicle on the roadside at around 3 AM.

Constable Assaulted After Questioning Youths

According to police sources, when the constable questioned the youths for consuming alcohol in a public place, an argument broke out. The situation quickly escalated, and the accused allegedly physically assaulted the constable, twisted his hands, and snatched the keys of his official bike.

The attackers also reportedly abused the Karnataka Police during the confrontation, further aggravating the seriousness of the offence.

Case Registered, Two Accused in Custody

A case has been registered at the Amruthahalli police station against all four accused involved in the assault. Police have confirmed the arrest of two engineering students, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining two individuals.

Manhunt Launched for Remaining Accused

Authorities have launched a search operation to locate the absconding accused. Officials stated that strict action will be taken against those involved in attacking a public servant on duty.

“Assault on police personnel will not be tolerated. The remaining accused will be apprehended soon.”

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over public intoxication, youth misconduct, and safety of police personnel during night patrol duties in Bengaluru.
