Head Constable and Constable Face Action After Video of Abuse Surfaces, Probe Ordered in Kumbhraj Incident

Guna (MP): In a significant disciplinary action, two police constables in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district have been suspended after a viral video allegedly showed them assaulting and abusing a youth during a dispute in Kumbhraj town.

The incident, which took place on April 20, came to light after a video clip surfaced on social media, triggering public outrage and prompting immediate action from the police department.

Viral Video Triggers Swift Action

The video, widely circulated online, purportedly shows two policemen physically assaulting and verbally abusing a युवक. Following the viral spread, authorities took cognisance of the matter and initiated disciplinary proceedings.

Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal confirmed that Head Constable Vasudev Sharma, posted at Kumbhraj police station, and Constable Sharad Yadav, who had been deployed from Police Lines, were involved in the incident.

Suspension for Misconduct and Negligence

According to officials, both personnel have been suspended on charges of misconduct, negligence in duty, and inappropriate behaviour. They have been attached to the Guna Police Lines pending further inquiry.

During the suspension period, the accused officers will receive only a subsistence allowance and will not be permitted to leave headquarters without prior approval from authorities.

“The department has taken serious note of the incident. Such behaviour is unacceptable and unethical,” SP Hitika Vasal stated.

Probe Ordered, Report Expected in Five Days

To ensure accountability, the Sub-Divisional Officer Police (SDOP), Chanchoda, has been directed to conduct a preliminary investigation into the incident. The officer has been asked to submit a detailed report within five days.

Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances leading to the altercation, verify the authenticity of the video, and determine if further action, including departmental or legal proceedings, is warranted.

Rising Scrutiny on Police Conduct

The incident has once again brought police conduct under scrutiny, especially in cases involving alleged misuse of authority and excessive force. Public reactions on social media have demanded strict accountability and transparent action against those found guilty.

Officials reiterated that maintaining public trust remains a priority and assured that due process will be followed in the investigation.
