After emotional public outcry, Karnataka Home Minister assures immediate relief and long-term housing solution for Shira woman Rabia
Tumakuru: In a significant humanitarian response, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has assured housing and financial support to Rabia, a woman from Shira taluk, whose emotional appeal recently drew public attention.
Rabia had broken down during a public meeting, pleading for basic housing support and highlighting her prolonged struggle.
In an emotional outburst, she said she had not received a promised house even after two years, and in despair, made a shocking plea:
“If I have no way to live, please euthanise me.”
Her appeal, combined with a song addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, quickly went viral and drew widespread attention.
After hearing her concerns, Parameshwara announced immediate and long-term assistance:
- House rent to be covered for six months
- Ration expenses to be borne for six months
- Permanent housing or plot to be provided within six months
Officials are expected to initiate the process for allotment and ensure timely support as promised.
Observers say such cases underline the importance of responsive governance and timely execution of government promises.
