Oracle is accused of mass layoffs via email as thousands in India lose jobs abruptly, no official statement yet, and employee outrage surfaces online
The scale of the layoffs is unprecedented, with reports suggesting that nearly 40 percent of Oracle’s workforce in India has been impacted.
Reports indicate that the layoffs began on March 31, catching employees completely off guard.
“I worked at Oracle for 26 years. I got an email at 6 am. They didn’t even have the courtesy to call,” an employee wrote online.
Another emotional account read:
“My brother worked for 20 years and was close to retirement. He was laid off via email despite serious health issues.”
Soon after, access to official systems such as Slack, VPN, and email accounts was reportedly revoked immediately, effectively cutting employees off from the organisation overnight.
The sudden nature of the layoffs has left thousands of professionals in uncertainty, especially amid a competitive job market and economic pressures.

In addition, employees are expected to receive notice pay and other benefits, though concerns remain over the adequacy and timing of payouts.
Experts argue that such abrupt decisions, especially without prior communication, can have severe emotional and financial consequences for employees.
