Mumbai: India prepares to bid a tearful farewell to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, whose last rites will be performed with full state honours at Shivaji Park on Monday afternoon. The iconic singer, fondly known as Ashatai, passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital.


Final Darshan Arrangements, Public Pays Respect
Her mortal remains were brought to her residence at Casa Grande in Lower Parel, where fans and well-wishers have been gathering since morning. According to her son Anand Bhosle, the public has been allowed to pay their last respects from 11 AM, ahead of the funeral scheduled at 4 PM.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited her residence on Sunday evening to offer floral tributes. State Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar confirmed that the singer would receive a state funeral, marking her immense contribution to Indian music.

Several political leaders, including Sunil Shinde and Prasad Lad, also paid homage, reflecting the nationwide respect for her legacy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief, stating:

Music maestro A. R. Rahman was seen visiting her residence early Monday, while actor Priyanka Chopra described her loss as “losing a piece of childhood.”
