SIT probe uncovers chilling pattern of grooming, closed café meetings and viral content circulation, cyber crackdown deletes 41 accounts

Amravati: In a disturbing and fast-evolving case from Amravati, investigators have uncovered a shocking “love guru” angle in the alleged exploitation of multiple young women, with the main accused, Ayan Ahmed, now at the centre of a widening criminal network probe.

The case, which first surfaced from Paratwada in Amravati district, involves allegations of grooming, coercion, and circulation of objectionable videos, with at least eight girls identified as victims so far. The ongoing probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has revealed a systematic pattern of manipulation and targeting.

‘Scripted Approach’ to Trap Victims

According to sources, the accused allegedly used a calculated and unusual conversation tactic to initiate contact with women. Instead of conventional introductions, he would reportedly open with a direct line:

“Forget the hi-hello, are you the same person I met there?”

Investigators believe this method helped him break social barriers quickly, build familiarity, and gradually gain trust before allegedly exploiting the victims.

‘Love Guru’ Under Scanner

A major twist in the case is the revelation that Ayan Ahmed may have been guided by a so-called “love guru”, who allegedly provided strategies on how to approach and manipulate women.

Police are now working to identify and trace this individual, suspecting a larger grooming network or advisory role behind the crimes.

Rented Flat and Multiple Locations Used

The SIT investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly used a rented flat belonging to an associate, Manav Sugandhe, located on Kathora Road, on multiple occasions (7–8 times). The flat owner has now been summoned for questioning to determine knowledge or complicity.

Additionally, several locations have come under scrutiny, including:

  • Cafe Royal
  • Cafe Friend Town
  • Cafe Social Junction (now closed)

Police suspect that private compartments in these cafés may have been used for meetings and alleged exploitation. Operators of these establishments have been questioned.

Links Extend to Remote Locations

Investigators have also traced movements to the Vajjar Dam area, where the accused and victims reportedly met. A police team has conducted a site inspection to gather additional evidence.

Digital Trail: 41 Accounts Taken Down

A significant digital footprint has emerged in the case. Authorities found that photos and videos linked to the victims were circulated across major platforms, including:

  1. Facebook
  2. Instagram
  3. Telegram
  4. YouTube

With assistance from the cyber cell, 41 accounts have been identified and removed, marking a crucial step in containing the spread of sensitive content.

Detentions and Expanding Network Probe

So far, the SIT has detained at least 10 additional individuals for questioning, indicating the possibility of a larger network or support system aiding the accused.

Officials are examining:

  1. Financial links
  2. Digital communication trails
  3. Potential accomplices

Authorities Urge Victims to Come Forward

In a sensitive outreach effort, female police officials, including Inspector Yashodhara Muneshwar, are contacting victims and encouraging them to record statements confidentially.

The National Commission for Women has also taken cognisance of the matter and conducted a review via video conferencing, underscoring the seriousness of the case.
