A remark by Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna questioning whether “black magic” is behind CM Siddaramaiah’s silence has sparked sharp reactions within the party
Bengaluru: A fresh political controversy has erupted inside the Karnataka Congress after unusual remarks by party MLA K. N. Rajanna over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remaining silent amid recent internal party developments.
Rajanna’s comments suggesting that someone may have used “black magic” on the Chief Minister have triggered reactions from fellow leaders and intensified political chatter within the ruling party.
What Rajanna Said
Speaking to reporters, Rajanna reportedly said he and Siddaramaiah do not believe in such practices, but added that the CM is not someone who would normally appear helpless or passive.
He said this had led him to wonder whether someone had influenced matters through superstition or ritual practices.
“He is not the kind of person who stays weak or silent,” Rajanna was reported as saying.
The statement quickly became a talking point in Karnataka politics.
Balakrishna Hits Back
Congress MLA H. C. Balakrishna responded sharply, saying only Rajanna would have the “Power” to do such things, mocking the statement.
He also added that such remarks should not be taken too seriously and suggested the comments may have been made casually.
Balakrishna further said the era of gaining or losing power through superstition is over.
Home Minister Reacts
G. Parameshwara also reacted, saying Rajanna may have spoken based on something he heard or believed.
His response avoided escalation but acknowledged the remarks had created attention.
Why Siddaramaiah’s Silence Is Being Discussed
Political observers say recent internal Congress tensions, leadership speculation, and criticism involving people seen as close to Siddaramaiah have led to questions about why the Chief Minister has not responded strongly in public.
That silence has now become a subject of debate both inside and outside the party.
