Forced abduction attempt triggers violent attack, 45-year-old woman succumbs to injuries as police arrest four accused and file murder charges

Bengaluru: A domestic dispute in Bengaluru has taken a tragic and fatal turn, after a 45-year-old woman died following a brutal assault allegedly carried out during a forced abduction attempt. Police have now converted the case from assault to murder and arrested four accused, including the victim’s relative’s husband.

Forced Attempt to Take Wife Sparks Violence
According to police reports, the incident unfolded in Adugodi, where Charulatha had been staying with her grandmother and aunt Mageshwari after a marital dispute with her husband Manikiran. Despite repeated attempts, Manikiran reportedly failed to convince his wife to return home.

On the day of the incident, Manikiran, accompanied by his father Manivannan and associates Maniraj alias Stephen and Abhishek, allegedly arrived at Adugodi and attempted to take Charulatha by force.

Iron Rod Attack and Multiple Stab Injuries
When Charulatha’s aunt, Mageshwari, intervened to stop them, she was violently attacked. Police said the accused allegedly assaulted her with an iron rod and stabbed her multiple times in the leg with a knife, leaving her critically injured.

Hospital Transfers and Death Due to Complications
Mageshwari was initially rushed to St. John's Hospital, where doctors reportedly stabilised her condition. However, due to financial constraints, her family shifted her to Victoria Hospital and later to another facility.

Despite efforts, she succumbed to her injuries early Sunday morning, with family members alleging that the lack of sustained treatment contributed to her death.

Case Converted to Murder, Four Arrested
Following her death, police upgraded the case to murder charges. The accused, Manikiran, his father Manivannan, and associates Maniraj alias Stephen and Abhishek, have been taken into custody.

All four, reportedly working as wage labourers, have been remanded to judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
