Bengaluru North City Corporation chief directs officials to complete lake desilting by May-end, resolve water stagnation and speed up infrastructure works

Bengaluru: The Commissioner of Bengaluru North City Corporation, Pommala Sunil Kumar, conducted an inspection of ongoing civic works in the Kacharakanahalli locality and issued strict directions to ensure the timely completion of key infrastructure projects.

Lake Desilting Work Under Review
During the visit, the Commissioner inspected the Kacharakanahalli Lake and instructed officials to complete the desilting work by the end of May without any delay. The directive comes amid increasing concerns over waterlogging and drainage issues in several parts of the city.

Footpath and White-Topping Works to Be Accelerated
The Commissioner also reviewed the white-topping works being undertaken by B-Smile along the road near the lake. He directed officials to expedite the construction of footpaths, emphasising the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure in the area.

Stormwater Drain Issue Flags Concern
A key concern highlighted during the inspection was water stagnation in the Rajakaluve (stormwater drain inlet) near the lake. The Commissioner instructed authorities to take immediate corrective measures to ensure the free flow of water and prevent flooding risks.

Focus on Timely Execution of Civic Projects
Reiterating the importance of efficient governance, Pommala Sunil Kumar stressed that delays in infrastructure projects cannot be tolerated, especially in the wake of recent rain-related disruptions across Bengaluru.

“Timely completion of infrastructure works is crucial. All officials must discharge their responsibilities diligently,” the Commissioner directed during the inspection.

Senior Officials Present During Inspection
The inspection was attended by senior civic officials, including Chief Engineers, Executive Engineers, and other staff members, who were directed to closely monitor progress and ensure accountability in execution.

The move is seen as part of a broader effort by Bengaluru North City Corporation to strengthen urban infrastructure and drainage systems, especially ahead of the monsoon season.
