Victim allegedly drugged and attacked inside the clinic, accused tried to pass death as natural; a video call detail exposes the plot
Belagavi: In a murder case from Karnataka’s Belagavi district, police have arrested a woman and her alleged associate for allegedly planning and executing the killing of her husband, a therapist, and attempting to present it as a natural death.
The incident was reported from Babale Galli in the Anagol area of Belagavi. The deceased has been identified as Avinash Suppannavar (40), a therapist working at a private Ayurvedic college. Police have arrested his wife, Lakshmi Suppannavar and alleged associate Kailash Achital in connection with the case.
Police Probe Reveals Planned Murder
According to investigators, the accused allegedly mixed sleeping tablets into a soft drink and served it to Avinash. After consuming the drink, he reportedly became weak and collapsed inside the clinic.
Police said the accused then allegedly attacked him using a gas cylinder, targeting his head and chest. Authorities believe the act was pre-planned and carefully coordinated.
“The accused allegedly attempted to mislead the investigation by presenting the death as accidental. Evidence collected during the probe exposed the conspiracy,” sources said.
Video Call Detail Raises Suspicion
During the investigation, police reportedly uncovered that Lakshmi had made a video call to Kailash during the incident to confirm whether Avinash had died. This detail became a crucial lead in exposing the alleged conspiracy.
Officials further stated that after the incident, Lakshmi reached the clinic and acted as though she knew nothing about what had happened.
False Story of Health Collapse Alleged
Investigators said she allegedly claimed that Avinash had collapsed due to high sugar levels and suffered a fatal head injury after falling. However, forensic clues and questioning reportedly contradicted the version given initially.
How the Incident Unfolded
Police said that on March 6, at around 4 PM, Avinash had left home for his clinic. Around the same time, the accused Kailash allegedly arrived there pretending to seek therapy treatment. During that visit, the soft drink was reportedly given to the victim.
Once Avinash collapsed, the alleged attack took place inside the clinic premises, police said.
Accused in Custody, Investigation Continues
Belagavi police have taken both accused into custody and are continuing the investigation. Officers are also examining digital evidence, call records, and motive-related details linked to the case.
